Event Coordinator

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work with Volunteer & Programs Manager & Operations Director to plan and coordinate Helping Hands’ events for the summer and calendar year (fundraising events, community awareness events, donation drives, outreach events).
  • Create event calendars, coordinate volunteers, handle logistics (venue, setup, materials, permits if needed), coordinate outreach and communications, liaise with donors, community partners, clients.
  • After events: assist with follow-up, debrief, documentation, evaluation of success, suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintain records: attendee numbers, donation amounts, volunteer hours, event costs vs outcomes.

  • Provides youth experience in event planning, project management, community outreach, collaboration, communications — valuable employability skills.
  • Helps expand Helping Hands’ reach, build community relationships, and potentially secure more resources to support clients.
 
Supervision plan:
  • Supervisor: “Volunteer & Programs Manager” — combination of on-site and remote supervision. More than 2 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Feedback: informal (as events run), scheduled formal reviews after each event.
 
Preferred education: high-school or post-secondary; interest in community work, social services, event planning is preferred.
 
Hours / Duration / Wage: e.g. 35 hours/week, 8 weeks, $21/hour
