Extreme Heat and Poverty
As you likely already know, a heat warning has once again been issued for the Hamilton area. Our community’s major concern at this time is how to deal with the heat, currently at 31, “feels like 36”! While we are thankful to provide an air-conditioned space at Helping Hands, we also grieve that many of our friends facing poverty do not have safe, cool places to rest during the day or night.
On this page, we’ve provided some tips and education about how extreme heat affects people who are facing poverty. We hope you’ll take a moment to learn!
As previously mentioned, we are providing a cool place to rest in company of friends who care. But in order to be able to continue to provide a cool space, refreshing drinks, and community to check in on each other, we need your support!
Would you consider a donation today to help us provide these basic necessities during this heat wave, and others to come yet this summer? Donate online using the Donation form now!
