How working at Helping Hands has impacted my life ….

I am filled with gratitude as I reflect upon the profound impact that working at Helping Hands has had on my life. It has been a transformative opportunity that has shaped my perspective and enriched my soul.

When I first started at Helping Hands Street Mission, I was driven by a desire to make a difference in the lives of those who are marginalized and often forgotten or neglected by society. As I helped with facilitating the social groups and drop-in Café, and engaged with friends every week, Helping Hands helped me see the great power of empathy. Through interactions with friends who are experiencing adversity, I gained a profound understanding of their struggles, their hopes, and their dreams. I listened to their stories, shared their pain, and celebrated their victories. It was through these human connections that I learned to see beyond the stereotypes and truly appreciate the inherent worth and dignity of every individual.

Working at Helping Hands also awakened me to the importance of compassion and non-judgment. I learned that poverty can affect anyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, whether that’s emotional, spiritual or financial poverty. The community taught me to approach each person with an open heart, offering not only social support but also a genuine sense of dignity and respect. Witnessing the transformation that can occur when love and acceptance are extended to those who have been cast aside by society was a humbling and awe-inspiring experience.

Further, my time at Helping Hands Street Mission strengthened my faith. I witnessed how the Christian faith in the community and the spirit of hope can triumph even in the most challenging circumstances. Through the prayer, fellowship, and spiritual guidance I witnessed, I learned how powerful faith in God’s grace and trust in His divine plan can be.

In addition to the profound personal growth I experienced, working at Helping Hands also allowed me to be part of a remarkable community. I am eternally grateful for being a part of this remarkable organization, where the power of love and service is demonstrated every day.
