Back in May, the Helping Hands Street Mission Board shared that Alice Plug-Buist would be stepping down as Executive Director and that a search process was beginning.

God has been so good through this season, from the gift of release to Alice to know that her time at Helping Hands Street Mission was coming to an end, all the way to the acceptance of a job offer by our next Executive Director, Laura Hanna.

Laura is an executive leader with more than 15 years of experience leading faith-based, nonprofit, and international development organizations. Recognized for her relationship-centered leadership, she brings expertise in organizational strategy, governance, and strategic partnership development. Guided by her Christian faith, Laura is passionate about strengthening mission-driven organizations so they can create meaningful, lasting impact in their communities. She is committed to cultivating collaborative cultures where people and organizations flourish together.

Laura is particularly drawn to Helping Hands Street Mission’s commitment to faith in action. She looks forward to contributing to the important work already occurring to ensure that dignity, belonging, and friendship-based support continue to shape the lives of people across Hamilton.

Alice is excited to walk alongside Laura as the Executive Director position transitions over the coming month, in addition to supporting her in a part-time capacity as Stewardship Director for the upcoming year as Laura settles in. The entire staff team at Helping Hands is eager to welcome Laura in as their new leader. We trust that our friends, volunteers, donors and other partners will come to know and love Laura as she brings her significant skills to the organization.
